Seesmart Embarks on $2.3 Million Lights Retrofit of Pasadena Metropolis College

Simi Valley, CA (PRWEB) March 12, 2012

LED lighting manufacturer Seesmart, Inc. has secured a $ 2.3 million contract with Pasadena City College for a lighting retrofit to further its reputation as a leader in sustainability. The retrofit will replace more than 34,000 fluorescent tube lights in campus buildings with high-efficiency, long-lasting Seesmart LED tube lights.

Pasadena City Colleges anticipated LED retrofit benefits include significant energy savings of $ 720,000 and 3.7 million kilowatt-hours per year, and its carbon footprint will reduce by 5 million pounds per year. Additionally, the college expects an $ 850,000 rebate from Pasadena Water Power for this energy-saving project.

Pasadena City College is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in sustainability, remarked Richard van Pelt, CFO and assistant president of Pasadena City College. The move to replace all fluorescent lamps on campus with LEDs represents what we are aboutglobal leadership in everything we do. Not only will this save more than 55 percent of electrical consumption for lighting, but it saves in manufacturing resources and disposal costs and impacts. We start saving money on the first day the LEDs are installed, so the payback is instantaneous.

In the course of Pasadena City Colleges lighting retrofit, classrooms, offices, stairwells, parking structures, gymnasium, and mechanical rooms of 26 buildings will be converted from fluorescent to LED lighting. The contract for this massive project was issued using the California Multiple Award Schedules (CMAS).

“Integrating Seesmart LED lighting products into Pasadena City Colleges infrastructure will not only save energy, it will bring cost-avoidance opportunities, said Ray Sjolseth, President of Seesmart, Inc. The long lifespan of our LED products obviates the need for frequent replacement of individual lamps. This minimizes maintenance costs and facility waste and means that on-staff labor will be available for other servicing needs.

WholesaleLED.com Unveils Ultra-vibrant LED Lighting

Los Angeles , CA (PRWEB) March 10, 2012

WholesaleLED.com unveiled a new line of LED high-bay, street lights, and industrial flood lights which produce as much as 25,000 lumens and use up to 95% less energy than the bulbs they will replace.

The new line of ultra-bright commercial and industrial lighting is now available on WholesaleLED.com, with discount pricing for volume purchases. WholesaleLED will arrange for utility rebates and subsidies, which will pay for the majority of the project costs.

By arranging for rebates and subsidies, WholesaleLED eliminates steep upfront investment of the high powered lighting, according to Era Tadevosian, Vice President of sales for WholesaleLED.com. If you choose to go through our retrofit service, we can use a combination of rebates and pricing to make sure that your monthly payments for the project are a small fraction of the significant decline in utility bill.

A single LED high-bay lamp can produce as much light as 20 forty-watt fluorescent tubes, and provide a much higher quality light and brightness. Yet, this single high-bay will only use 5% of the electricity as the 20 fluorescent tubes combined. Moreover, these LED lamps have a three year warranty—this long life will greatly reduce maintenance costs when compared with conventional bulbs.

WholesaleLEDs commercial line also includes LED street lights, outdoor security lights, parking lot lights, high-powered flood lights and more. Learn more about the projects and retrofit services at http://www.WholesaleLED.com/commercial.

Balanced Progress in Automotive Manufacturing to Drive Demand for Vehicular Lights, In accordance to New Report by Worldwide Business Analysts, Inc.

San Jose, California (PRWEB) March 14, 2012

Follow us on LinkedIn Over the years, vehicular lighting has transformed from being a purely functional auto component to emerge as an important styling parameter. OEMs have been focusing on lights, especially LED (Light Emitting Diodes) lighting to style and accentuate the features of a car. Advancements in design engineering and material technology has enabled aerodynamic styling of vehicle lights, while simultaneously ensuring required levels of energy efficiency and performance. Key factors which influence trends in the vehicular lighting market include scale of automobile production, regulatory changes, performance, style and costs. Demand in the OEM market is directly proportional to automobile production, while in the aftermarket vehicle population on road and the average age of vehicles are major demand determinants. Growing price based competition in the aftermarket and in the OEM sector brings cost into the spotlight as a major competitive variable for manufacturers of vehicle lighting systems. Manufacturers are expected to continue facing tremendous pressure in providing right lighting products, featuring latest technologies at economical prices. Demand for superior safety, comfort and performance features drives technology innovation in the marketplace. Technologies which have revolutionized the lighting market up until now include halogen miniature bulbs, HID lights distributed by fiber optics, neon tubes, LEDs, electroluminescent panels, fluorescent tubes, xenon, bi-xenon, among others. Product design considerations in the future will revolve around energy consumption, longer life, less heat generation and compact design.

HID-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps are fast growing in popularity, given their numerous advantages over incandescent lamps. HID headlamps produce light, which is three times brighter than the conventional halogen lamps. Emergence of advanced HID headlamp systems particularly spells doom for halogen lamp, as these systems use brighter and power efficient xenon-based HID units. The Xenon-based HID headlamps are fast replacing halogen lamps not only in luxury car segment but also in the mid-tier car segment. While LED light source are replacing incandescent lamps, especially in the rear signal lighting market, Xenon lamps are presenting stiff competition to LEDs. Although LED offers a wide range of usage benefits, it is still overshadowed by Xenon lamps in terms of cost performance. Decreasing costs, greater energy conservation and lower power consumption are the major factors driving the increased popularity of xenon lamps. Xenon lamps also score over LEDs with regard to heat dissipation, which has been posing a serious challenge to LEDs.

The automobile industry worldwide witnessed a strong rebound in production and demand following the decline witnessed during the 2007-2009 recession. Resurgence in growth fundamentals, such as, recovery in GDP growth, rise in employment rates, incomes levels, discretionary incomes and consumer confidence, drove up sales in the OEM sector. While the industry in most regions across the world is continuing to recover, the industry in Europe is running into fresh set of challenges.

The European automobile industry currently continues to vacillate between optimism and fear, marring sentiments in an otherwise recovering auto industry in the region. Nervous over the play out of the sovereign debt crisis drama, the domestic industry is facing immediate hurdles, such as, credit restriction, consumer indecisiveness, anticipated slowing of vehicle sales, high labor costs, and possible collapse of consumer confidence in the event of escalation in the severity of the debt crisis. The heat raised by the Euro debt crisis in the auto industry in the EU is reflected by the growing concerns voiced by auto majors like Ford, General Motors, Fiat, over the volatile and fluctuating profits being recorded in the region. Bearish market sentiments indicate that continued multiple defaults by debt ridden economies could trigger a collapse of the Euro as a common currency. The return to local currency, although currently not seen as likely, can spell doom pushing the automobile industry into a complete meltdown like the one witnessed during the 2007-2009 recession.

However, immediate production cutbacks in the region are not seen as likely, given the yet patchy slowdown in auto sales. For instance, pockets of strength continue to exist in the region, such as in Germany and the UK alongside the quarterly weakness witnessed in France, Spain and Portugal. The odds are in favor of the automobile industry given the current guarded optimism over the governments latest attempts to rein in the debt crisis, which in effect discounts the impact of a possible Eurozone crisis, which is still not confirmed as a technical recession. Also, the 2007-2009 recession inspired adoption of leaner inventory holding strategies and restructured cost bases, and shrewd expansion into developing countries to minimize risk exposure in domestic markets, now has the automotive industry in the region better equipped to weather a possible Eurozone slowdown. Nevertheless, auto makers in the region remain concerned and are continuing to lobby for a quicker intervention of the European leaders in resolving the debt crisis. Currently, however production continues to hold up even in the face of weaker than expected growth and optimism remains with no downgrade in the outlook for auto production. Although short-termed, concerns of the automobile industry are currently alleviated with news about the governments in EU legislating additional bailouts which in effect kicks the EU debt can further down the road. Although these short-term solutions do not provide a permanent solution to the crisis and in reality indicates deferring of conclusive, corrective action, market sentiments are nevertheless encouraged.

As stated by the new market research report on Vehicular Lighting, Asia Pacific is the largest market worldwide. The region also represents the fastest growing market with a projected CAGR of 7.7% over the analysis period. Growth in the region will be driven by the huge untapped demand for motorcycles and cars. Conducive economic variables such as, rising employment levels, economic prosperity and increase in discretionary income, lower per capita vehicle ownership as compared to developed markets, are all factors which presents enormous commercial potential for growth. Growing importance of China and India as favorable destinations for outsourced automotive manufacturing activities, also presents opportunities for the automotive lamps market, particularly in the OEM segment.

Major players in the marketplace include Advanced Lighting Technologies Inc., Automotive Lighting Reutlingen GmbH, Federal-Mogul Corporation, Flextronics Automotive GmbH & Co., KG, GE Consumer & Industrial, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co., Ichikoh Industries Ltd., Koito Manufacturing Company Ltd., Magna International Inc., Odelo GmbH, OSRAM GmbH, Philips Automotive Lighting, Robert Bosch GmbH, Valeo SA, Visteon Corporation, among others.

The research report titled Vehicular Lighting: A Global Strategic Business Report announced by Global Industry Analysts, Inc., provides a comprehensive review of market trends, issues, drivers, company profiles, mergers, acquisitions and other strategic industry activities. The report provides market estimates and projections in volume sales for major geographic markets including the United States, Canada, Japan, Europe (France, Germany, Italy, UK, Spain, Russia, & Rest of Europe), Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Rest of World. Product segments analyzed include Automotive Lamps (Headlamps, Tail Lamps, Parking Lamps, Signaling/Flasher Lamps, Fog Lamps, and Brake Lamps among others) and Motorcycle Lamps (Headlamps, Tail Lamps and Flasher Lamps).

New York Investing Team Introduces Alternative to Bookstores for Writer Appearances

New York, New York (PRWEB) March 10, 2012

As brick-and-mortar bookstores increasingly disappear, the New York investing Meetup, an educational group of almost 3500 independent investors, has stepped into the breach to offer authors an alternative venue for talks and book signings.

Our purpose is to provide unbiased stock market and economic information to the public and in order to further that goal we decided to occasionally interview authors of important current books at our meetings, said group organizer Daryl Montgomery. The group will be hosting Nicholas Wapshott on March 22nd for a discussion of the controversial Keynes Hayek: The Clash That Defined Modern Economics.

Although Wapshott has been appearing before record crowds at universities in England, he has stated that he was happy to confirm his appearance at the New York Investing Meetup. The group not only produces standing room only audiences at its meetings, but also provides a webinar connection so anyone in the United States and Canada can listen in. By definition, all of its members are part of any economic or investing authors target market.

The specialized audience means that the group can conduct more in-depth interviews than those that take place on TV or at bookstores. While stimulating for the audience, these are not always easy for the writer. Organizer Montgomery is an author himself, a book reviewer, and an expert on inflation. The New York Investing Meetup was at the forefront in accurately predicting events and exposing corruption during the Credit Crisis.

When author William Cohan came to discuss his bestseller House of Cards, the sharp questioning on the events that led to Bear Stearns demise led him to respond, I feel like a frog in water that is gradually being raised to the boiling point. He seemed relieved when the interview was over.

Not all the authors that come to the group are as well-known as Nicholas Wapshott or William Cohan, nor are the books discussed all bestsellers. Arun Motianey was interviewed on his book SuperCycles because it had an interesting new view of the markets and the economy.

We are looking to provide exposure to investing and economic books that provide useful insight that can ultimately help our members make money, states Montgomery. Not all of these books are bestsellers and many of these authors dont have a lot of options for public appearances and book signings. Only a small number of authors can get appearances at colleges, and most cant get on TV. We are trying to provide opportunities for them that arent available elsewhere. We will even consider books that only exist in electronic format, he continued.

The traditional option of making an appearance at a bookstore is rapidly disappearing because bookstores themselves are closing down. First competition from Internet sellers like Amazon was doing them in and now the transition from physical books to e-books is lowering their sales. The crunch is affecting every type of retailer from the smallest independent to the big box chain. By January 2010, top brick-and-mortar bookseller Barnes and Nobles had closed the last of its 798 B. Dalton stores. Borders, the second-largest bookstore chain, then declared bankruptcy in 2011. All 650 of its stores shut down.

The future doesnt look much rosier for bookstores either. Many experts like publishing consultant Mike Shatzkin see the decline continuing with the amount of shelf space for print books in physical stores declining by 50% by the middle of the decade and as much as 90% by the beginning of the next decade.

Groups like the New York Investing meetup not only offer an alternative for authors, but a better alternative. They have bigger contact lists than many independent stores and everyone on them is interested in one topic area. Bookstore lists include readers with every imaginable interest.

Organizer Montgomery concluded, Our group is not afraid to innovate; we are always looking for win/win ideas. Of the almost 100,000 Meetup groups that currently exist; we were the first to do educational YouTube videos and the first to have an associated blog (the popular Helicopter Economics Investing Guide). Our forward looking thinking is what has allowed us to grow from just a handful of people to the largest investing Meetup in the world. Other groups have followed our lead in the past and we expect our author appearance idea to catch on as well.

Superstars’ Steve Hutson Interviewed on London’s LBC Radio

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 13 March 2012

Superstar’s founder Steve Hutson went on the LBC Drivetime show and spoke to presenter Ian Payne, who was sitting in for regular host James Whale. The Drivetime slot has been covering some of the successful businesses which are managing to thrive in London despite the harsh economic climate and Steve was on hand to talk about Superstars unique model.

Ian began by asking Steve, “So, why are you different?” Something Steve was eager to expand upon. “The good news is, we don’t charge margins or fees of any kind, basically disrupting the staffing industry.”

Steve explained that he has developed working relationships with a a lot of Talent in the digital and creative sectors but that he became fed up of having to charge fees to companies who hired staff through him, which most of the Talent hated. This led to the creation of Superstars’ unique payment model.

“I wanted to come up with a new service to make sure I was looking after the Talent more than anything else and just turn everything on its head with a new revenue model that would ensure the Talent were free from that,” Steve told LBC.

“We came up with Superstars and the new way, where clients pay us a subscription to access to our assessed Talent and allow us to go and find new people for them at the same time.”

SUPERSTARS is a new staffing company with a difference. We want to change the way recruitment works by simplifying payments and by treating our Talent as individuals, not as entries on a balance sheet.

We offer employers a unique and simple staffing model that ensures they get access to the best people in their field with no margins or fees – full stop.

2012 Konica Minolta Face-Off Traditional to Rock Baltimore

Ramsey, N.J. and Baltimore, Md. (PRWEB) March 08, 2012

Over the last six years, Inside Lacrosse has set the standard for promoting lacrosse with events such as the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic (Title sponsor: Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc.). This early season event has attracted more than 93,000 fans in its five-year history and has been a showcase for elite names in college lacrosse, often serving as a preview of the NCAA Championships. Four of the last five national champions have started their season in the Face-Off Classic: Johns Hopkins in 2007, Syracuse in 2008, Duke in 2010 and Virginia in 2011.

Lacrosse fans circle the date for the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic on their calendars each year. This year’s Face-Off Classic is set for Saturday, March 10 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore with a game lineup that once again pits the top teams in college lacrosse against each other. Four of the six participating teams are ranked in the top 10 of the current Nike/Inside Lacrosse media poll, including the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 teams featuring in the event.

2012 Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic

(Saturday, March 10 at M&T Bank Stadium)

Game No. 1 No. 14 Princeton vs No. 8 North Carolina (11:00 a.m.)

Game No. 2 No. 1 Virginia vs No. 3 Cornell (1:30 p.m.)

Game No. 3 No. 2 Johns Hopkins vs UMBC (4:00 p.m.)

All times Eastern

Games No. 1 and No. 2 will air on ESPNU, while fans can watch Game No. 3 on ESPN3.com.

The first of two Ivy League-ACC match-ups has Princeton facing North Carolina. Over the past few years perhaps no team in college lacrosse has assembled as much young talent as North Carolina. Much is expected of a Tar Heel team that will be hungry to make a statement of its own while making the programs first appearance in the event. Last season, the Tigers were hit hard by injuries and finished the year with a losing record for only the second time in over two decades. Led by a veteran defensive unit, Princeton is ready to use the Face-Off Classic to announce a return to the national spotlight.

The second game features a heavyweight match-up of top contenders for the 2012 NCAA title. Virginias 2011 season was a rollercoaster ride that culminated in a fifth NCAA title for the Cavaliers. Included on that ride were wins over Cornell in the Face-Off Classic (11-9) and the NCAA Quarterfinals (13-9). Both teams return balanced lineups with the necessary experience to navigate the ups and downs of a championship journey.

The third game is a local Baltimore rivalry between Johns Hopkins and UMBC. The Blue Jays welcome back talent and depth in virtually every position. Appearing in the NCAA Quarterfinals a year ago, Hopkins is on everyones preseason shortlist of national title contenders. On the flip side, the Retrievers have endured their fair share of growing pains the last two years. UMBC will be anxious to show that those hard earned lessons have paid off and push for a post-season trip.

Tickets can be purchased for the 2012 Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic. Ticket prices are: $ 35 for Club Level seats; $ 22 for Lower Level reserved seats; $ 18 for groups of 10 or more; and $ 12 for groups of 100 or more. Parking can also be purchased in advance for $ 15. All seating locations are reserved.

Lacrosse fans interested in ticket information can call the Baltimore Ravens box office at 410.261.RAVE. In addition to the Ravens box office, fans can purchase through Ticketmaster online at Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800.745.3000. Fans can also visit FaceOffClassic.com to check the schedule and details on ordering tickets.

This is a great lineup with the top three teams in the nation playing in the event, stated Andy Bilello, Associate Publisher for Inside Lacrosse and the events director. The first game welcomes back Princeton, an original Face-Off Classic participant facing a newcomer in North Carolina. The second game between top-ranked Virginia and No. 3 Cornell could easily be a preview of the national title game. Then, the day concludes with No. 2 ranked Johns Hopkins being challenged by UMBC. Its an exciting group of teams getting an opportunity to play on a big stage.

The event often raises the level of play for all teams involved. In the last five years, we have seen five games go to overtime and nine games overall decided by three goals or less. We expect more thrilling finishes on March 10, continued Bilello.
